Pre-Learner Program
To obtain a Learner's Licence in the ACT you must complete this Pre-learner (Road Ready) course.
This course will alert you to many skills required for safe driving and to the hazards out there on the roads.
The pre-learner course will also provide you with an understanding of the process for obtaining both a Learner's Licence and a Provisional Licence.

What’s the Pre-learner (Road Ready) course about?
It is a course that will build an understanding that
• Driving demands a lot of different skills to be managed at once as a driver.
• There are many different risks and hazards on the road that drivers need to be aware of.
• We can plan to manage our driving more safely as a driver.
• It takes a long time to become a safe and competent driver.
• The pre- learner program takes up to 10 hours to complete.
• It takes a long time to become a safe and competent driver.
The Road Rules test
• Must be passed at the end of the program according to the regulations.
• Is a multiple choice test and is available on the internet.
• If you fail the road rules test you can do redo the test 24 hours later.
• If you fail the test twice you must pay $80.00 to resit the test. (This will include 2 attempts only)

A.fter completion of the Road Ready program you need take to an Access Canberra Service Centre
• Your certificate of successful completion of the Road Ready program.
• Your certificate of successful completion of the road rules test.
• Proof of identity and residency.
What is involved:
• Complete a Pre-learner (Road Ready) Program.
• Pass the Road Rules Knowledge Test.
• Go to an Access Canberra Service Centre to be issued with a Learner Licence .
The Pre-learner Driver Program takes up to 10 hours to complete and is delivered online via Zoom.

Cost of the program is $185.00 for Pre-learner (Road Ready) Program and two attempts of the Road Rule Knowledge Test.
If you fail the test twice you must pay $80.00 to resit the test. (This will include 2 attempts only)
